Setting up and running a makerspace in a school: digital fabrication, electronics and robotics, linked to the curriculum and to projects that students choose.
Building simple sensors with students to investigate air, noise, light and how spaces feel — and turning the data into a discussion about what to change.
Opening, repairing and transforming toys: creativity, electronics and reuse, now also adapted to early childhood education.
01 / Training
Teacher and educator training that links hands-on experience to classroom practice. Together with Buinho, we organise five-day structured courses for teachers from across Europe, who take part with Erasmus+ KA1 mobility funding. Themes include makerspaces in school education, citizen sensing and toy hacking. Earlier editions took place in Carcavelos; the October 2026 edition of Makerspaces in School Education is hosted at FabLab Lisboa.
These courses often lead to lasting cooperation: the Sensing Belonging partnership with the Johannes-Gymnasium in Lahnstein began on a Citizen Sensing course, and the work on toy hacking in early childhood grew out of courses with kindergarten educators from Finland and Greece.
Our earlier catalogue of structured courses — including Introduction to AI, AI and Robotics in Education, AI for the Creative Mind and BioMaterials for Schools — can still be consulted at zingarelho.education.
Methods transferred to the school and lasting cooperation between schools across Europe.
